Se presenta el Registro del año 2022 de la Asociación de Imagen Cardiaca de la Sociedad Española de Cardiología (SEC).

Se invitó a 67 hospitales españoles a participar en el registro. La participación fue voluntaria y la recolección de datos se realizó a través de un cuestionario online. El cuestionario se centró en datos sobre dotación de recursos y actividad.

Participaron 53 hospitales, la mayoría públicos (88,9%) y de tipologías 3 o 4. El promedio de cardiólogos con dedicación preferente a imagen cardiaca fue de 4,2. El 38,9% de los centros dispone de técnicos de imagen. La disponibilidad de ecógrafos y antigüedad indica una tendencia a mejor dotación y renovación. En el 25,9% de los centros, los cardiólogos solo realizan ecocardiografía y el 74,1% participan en al menos otra modalidad (tomografía axial computarizada [TAC], resonancia magnética o medicina nuclear). El promedio anual de actividad fue: 9.590 ecocardiogramas, 516 resonancias magnéticas, 631 TAC y 607 estudios de medicina nuclear, con marcada variabilidad intercentros pese a estratificar por tipología de hospital. Se observó un incremento en eco estrés, transesofágico en intervencionismo y TAC. En el 90% de los centros se realizan ecocardiogramas por parte otras especialidades, en específico en la modalidad de ecocardioscopia por los servicios de unidad de cuidados intensivos y urgencias, y en menor medida, medicina interna, anestesiología y neurología.

El Registro español de Imagen Cardiaca de 2022 permite conocer la situación actual y la tendencia temporal en cuanto a recursos y actividad, las diferencias entre centros e identificar potenciales áreas de mejora para el futuro.

The 2022 Registry of the Cardiovascular Imaging Association of the Spanish Society of Cardiology is presented.

67 Spanish hospitals were invited to participate in the registry. Participation was voluntary and data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on data on resource endowment and activity.

53 hospitals participated, most of them public (88.9%) and of typologies 3 or 4. The average number of cardiologists with preferential dedication to cardiac imaging was 4.2. A 38.9% of centers have imaging technicians. The availability of ultrasound machines and age indicates a trend towards better equipment and renewal. In 25.9% of centers, cardiologists only perform echocardiography, and 74.1% participate in at least one other modality (computed tomography [CT], magnetic resonance imaging, or nuclear medicine). The average annual activity was: 9590 echocardiograms, 516 magnetic resonance imaging, 631 CT scans and 607 nuclear medicine studies, with marked inter-center variability despite stratifying by hospital type. An increase in stress echo, transthoracic echocardiography in intervention and CT is observed. In 90% of centers, echocardiograms are performed by other specialties, especially in the form of echocardioscopy by the ICU and emergency services, and to a lesser extent internal medicine, anesthesiology and neurology.

The Spanish Cardiac Imaging Registry of 2022 allows us to know the current situation and temporal trend in terms of resources and activity, the differences between centers and identify potential areas of improvement for the future.
